Athlete Bio

Lynda is a first-generation Filipino-American, born in California and raised in a traditional, multigenerational Filipino household alongside her mom, grandparents, and great-grandparents. At age nine, she moved to Texas with her mom and grandmother, and she has called it home ever since.

She discovered triathlons in college in 2018, despite having no background in swimming and only using her bike for transportation. In October 2022, inspired by a friend, Lynda signed up for her first triathlon, scheduled for March 2023. With no prior swim training and minimal biking experience, she taught herself to swim through YouTube and began training seriously. Competing in that first race was unlike anything she’d done—she hadn’t raced in five years, and the bike-to-run transition was a completely new challenge. But crossing the finish line filled her with pride, and she immediately signed up for her next triathlon. She’s been hooked ever since.

Outside of triathlons, Lynda is passionate about fitness, reading, and teaching. She has always loved staying active and enjoys exploring different types of workout classes. An avid reader since childhood, she’s always been drawn to stories and learning. Teaching holds a special place in her heart because it allows her to build strong relationships with her students while supporting their growth both academically and personally.

“Stay present. Whether it’s in a race, during a workout, at work, or just life on the daily. enjoy and take advantage of the moments you’re in or you might miss something important.”
